Interview with new team member Simon Lange/ Neuzugang Simon Lange im Interview
Several new team members joined the team in its first year in the German Bundesliga. Bit by bit we present them to you in interviews. For the third home game we have talked to the Swedish import Simon Lange.
Could you please introduce yourself?
My name is Simon Lange, I’m 23 years old and I come from Eskilstuna, Sweden.
What experience do you have in playing floorball? Where have you played before?
I have played floorball for 15 years or so. The last two seasons in Filipstad and Karlstad where my home university is and before that in Torshälla, my Mother club.
In which position do you prefer to play?
I have played pretty much every position but the last years i’ve played as defender.
How did the contact with the club come about?
When my father first heard about me potentially doing a semester in Germany he began scouting for teams for me to play in. Turns out Holzbuttgen was the closest team in the highest division.
What was your first impression of the team and the club?
My first impression of the team was that the guys are really close to each other but very welcoming. And of the club that its a small club from a small town but with a big crowd and heart for the local sports.
How is life in Germany? How does it differ from your home country?
Life in germany is, when you dont really speak the language, quite difficult but a great and fun experiance. Some differences in the everyday life is for example that everything is closed on sundays, the day that you want to go shopping the most.
What did you know about floorball in Germany before you came here?
Part of my dads scouting included trips to germany to watch some of the second division qualifiers. Besides that my brother (editor’s note:Felix Lange) has played some floorball for Germany!
What are the main differences between German and Swedish floorball you could pick out until now?
I think the Swedes start on a fullscale field earlier. Also the Germans play more physical while the Swedes play more technical in my opinion.
It’s no secret that you have a pretty talented younger brother who is going to finish school next year. Will we see him as well on the pitch here in Holzbüttgen next season?
Yes, my little brother played for Germanys men under 19 national team last season and my dad has a dream and I have actually thought about taking a year off, playing floorball with my brother in Germany. In short, I’ll see what I can do! (winks)
The season’s start was pretty difficult. How did the team react to the first defeats?
The beginning was difficult yes, it’s a new experiance for many of us to play at this level but I think that is good aswell. This series is no „walk in the park“.
What is your assessment of the upcoming game against Berlin?
The last few games have all been really close and thats how I like them! A fair but tough game with us coming out on top is what I’m hoping for!

Könntest du dich einmal kurz vorstellen?
Ich heiße Simon Lange, bin 23 Jahre alt und komme aus Eskilstuna in Schweden.
Welche Floorball-Erfahrung hast du? Wo hast du bisher gespielt?
Ich spiele Floorball jetzt seit ungefähr 15 Jahre. In den letzten zwei Saisons haben ich in Filipstad und meiner Universitätsstadt Karlstad gespielt. Davor war ich in Torshälla, meinem Heimatclub.
Auf welcher Position spielst du am liebsten?
Ich habe schon auf jeder Position gespielt, aber zuletzt habe ich als Defender gespielt.
Wie kam der Kontakt mit der DJK zustande?
Als mein Vater hörte, dass ich eventuell ein Semester im Deutschland studieren werde, hat er begonnen Teams für mich zu suchen. Es stellte sich heraus, dass Holzbüttgen der nächstgelegene Club in der 1. Floorballbundesliga ist.
Was war dein erster Eindruck von Team und Verein?
Der erste Eindruck von Team war, dass die Jungs sehr gut befreundet sind, dabei aber auch sehr offen und aufnahmebereit. Und vom Verein war der erste Eindruck, dass es ein kleiner Verein in einer kleinen Stadt ist, aber mit großem Publikum, das Herzblut für den lokalen Sport zeigt.
Wie ist das Leben für dich in Deutschland? Wie unterscheidet es sich von dem in Schweden?
Das Leben in Deutschland ist, wenn du die Sprache nicht richtig sprichst, recht schwierig, auf der anderen Seite aber auch eine großartige und lustige Erfahrung. Ein Unterschied im Alltag ist zum Beispiel, dass alle Geschäfte am Sonntag geschlossen sind. Genau an dem Tag, an dem du am liebsten Shoppen willst.
Was war die vorher über Floorball in Deutschland bekannt?
Ein Teil des Scoutings meines Vaters beinhaltete Trips nach Deutschland, um einige der Play-Offs in der zweiten Liga zu gucken. Zudem hat mein Bruder (Felix Lange, die Red.) bereits Floorball für Deutschland gespielt.
Was sind für dich die Hauptunterschiede zwischen dem Floorball in Deutschland und Schweden?
Ich denke in Schweden beginnt man früher auf Großfeld zu spielen. Außerdem glaube ich, dass die Deutschen eher körperlich und die Schweden eher technisch spielen.
Es ist kein Geheimnis, dass du einen talentierten jüngeren Bruder hast, der nächstes Jahr die Schule beenden wird. Werden wir ihn nächste Saison etwa auch hier in Holzbüttgen auf dem Feld sehen?
Ja, mein kleiner Bruder spielte für die deutsche U19-Nationalmannschaft letztes Jahr und mein Vater hat einen Traum und I denke darüber nach ein Jahr Auszeit zu nehem, um mit meinen Bruder ein Jahr in Deutschland Floorball zu spielen. Kurz gesagt, I schau mal, was sich machen lässt. (zwinkert)
Der Saisonstart gestaltete sich relativ schwierig. Wie hat das Team auf die ersten Niederlagen reagiert?
Der Saisonstart war schwierig, ja. Es ist eine neue Erfahrung für viele von uns auf diesem Niveau zu spielen. Aber I denke, das ist auch gut so. Diese Saison ist kein Spaziergang.
Wie schätzt du das nächste Spiel gegen BAT Berlin ein?
Die letzten Spiele waren alle sehr knapp, und so mag ich es auch. Ein faires aber hartes Spiel mit dem besseren Ausgang für uns ist, was ich mir wünsche.
